Housekeeper Policies
Version 2026-08-25 · These are the terms you agree to when you apply. They cover how you get paid, what we expect of you, and what you can expect of us.
You work with Hot Housekeepers Houston as an independent contractor, not an employee. You choose which bookings to accept, when you work, and where you work. Nothing here creates an employment relationship, and nothing here obliges you to accept any particular booking.
What you are paid
You keep 70% of the service price on every completed, undisputed booking. Your share rises the longer you work with the same client:
- 70% — until you have earned $500 from that client
- 80% — from $500 to $2,000 earned from that client
- 90% — above $2,000 earned from that client
The rate is tracked per client, not across your whole account, and it is locked in when a booking is confirmed — it never changes after that, in either direction. You can see your current rate and your progress toward the next one for every client on your Payouts & earnings page.
We never take a share of a tip. There is no tipping through the platform yet. A cash tip a client hands you is yours to keep, and it is the one payment that may pass hand to hand — the service itself is always paid through the platform.
Travel fees and the supply fee are yours in full — they are reimbursements, not revenue, and we take no commission on them. A client's priorities are not priced separately — they are what to do first inside the hours booked, and you do what fits in the time. You do not negotiate pricing, refunds, or credits with clients directly — bring any payment issue to us.
When you are paid
Your payout is released as soon as a booking is marked complete and is not under dispute. It is transferred to the Stripe account you connected during setup, and reaches your bank on the payout schedule Stripe holds for that account — typically a couple of business days.
Two things move on a different clock, and both are shown on your earnings page:
- Cancellation fees you have earned are reviewed before release rather than paid automatically, so they arrive on our weekly cycle rather than immediately.
- Payouts tied to a payment dispute are frozen until the dispute resolves. A frozen payout is not a lost one; it is money we cannot move while a client's bank is deciding. You will see it marked on hold rather than silently missing.
You need a connected Stripe account with payouts enabled before any money can reach you. You can accept bookings before that is finished, but the earnings will sit as pending until it is.
The vetting fee
There is a one-time $50 vetting fee. It is charged late, not early: your application passes initial review, you build your profile, and only then is the fee asked for, immediately before your background check runs. It covers the cost of that check. It is not a placement fee, and it is not deducted from your earnings.
Your profile and photos
Public profile photos are masked by default. Your face is shown publicly only if you explicitly opt in. You may use a stage name rather than your legal name.
Photos you submit must be of you and must be current. Photos submitted for vetting are stored privately, are visible only to our review team, and are never shown publicly or to clients.
Before-and-after photos of the work may be collected for quality review. No faces and no personal information of the client should appear in them, and if a client asks for no photos, that decision is final.
Scheduling and attendance
You are responsible for keeping your availability accurate. Clients book against what your calendar says, so an out-of-date calendar creates a booking you cannot honour.
- Arrive within the 15-minute arrival window around the booked time.
- Communicate any delay as soon as you know about it, through the platform.
- Report a call-out as early as you possibly can.
Repeated schedule problems or call-outs may mean being paused from the booking pool until they are sorted out. We will tell you before that happens, not after.
Conduct and boundaries
This is a themed housekeeping service. The service is cleaning. You may not offer, imply, or accept anything outside the booked service — there are no off-menu services, and no client may ask you for one. A client who does is in breach of our terms, and you should report it to us immediately rather than manage it yourself.
You may decline or end any booking that makes you feel unsafe or that crosses a boundary, and doing so will not be counted against you.
Soliciting clients to book outside the platform is a breach of these policies. So is arranging payment outside it — among other things, it removes every protection described on this page.
On the day
- Send an "on the way" update.
- Confirm the scope of work with the client when you arrive.
- Follow the access / no-access protocol if you cannot get in.
- On a confirmed booking your job sheet shows the name on the client's verified ID. You may ask to see that ID before you start; name and face should match. Never photograph or copy it.
- Escalate any payment or safety concern to us rather than resolving it at the door.
Your safety
Every client who books you must complete identity verification before you are asked to accept. You can see that status on the request. If verification is incomplete, the booking cannot proceed to you.
Verification proves who booked, not who opens the door. That is why the door check exists: on a confirmed booking you see the name Stripe read from the client's ID, and you may ask to see the ID itself when you arrive. If the person there is not the verified client, or will not show ID, do not start. Leave, report it from the booking page, and we handle it as a no-access cancellation, not as your cancellation.
You can report a client or a message at any time from the booking. Reports come to us, not to the client.
Background checks
Approval requires a background check, run by a consumer reporting agency with your written consent, which you give when you apply. If we decide not to move forward based on what that report says, you will receive an adverse-action notice explaining how to get a copy of the report and dispute it directly with the agency. You have that right regardless of our decision.
Ending the relationship
You may stop taking bookings at any time, and you may ask us to remove your profile at any time. Bookings you have already accepted should be honoured or cancelled with as much notice as you can give, so the client is not left without a housekeeper on the day.
We may remove a housekeeper for a serious breach of these policies — a safety incident, misconduct, or a boundary violation. Earnings you have already made are still yours and are paid out as normal.
Changes to these policies
If these terms change materially, the version above changes with them and we will tell you before the new version applies to you. The version you accepted is recorded with your application.
